Structural Repairs
Lynwoods has recently been trialling the latest range of helical tie rods to help repair structural damage and historic movement to various buildings. In this example, helical rods were inserted into a terraced house to pin the external wall to the internal perpendicular hallway wall. The two walls had gradually separated in previous decades. 10mm pilot holes were drilled through the facing bricks in every 3rd or 4th course and 12mm thick 900mm long rods were then rotated into the walls using an SDS drill, as shown in the video. A relatively straight-forward and cost-effective repair with no damage to the internal plaster or finishes. The work was completed in a day so the client can move on with internal decoration. Lynwoods will shortly be trialling the shorter 600mm rods and wall tie replacement rods.
